Canadian Home Prices Edge Up in July Amid Strengthening Economy
Canada's home prices have shown signs of stabilizing after months of decline. According to data from the Canadian Real Estate Association, the benchmark price of a home rose 0.1% in July to C$658,000 ($474,000). This is the first increase in 20 months.
The uptick in prices was driven by a stronger economy and reduced negotiating power for buyers due to fewer new listings on the market. Transactions outpaced new listings, putting downward pressure on prices.
While the increase may be small, it suggests that Canada's housing market is showing signs of recovery. However, more data will be needed to confirm this trend.
