Canadian Homebuyers Cool on US Markets Amid Economic Uncertainty
According to Redfin's latest report, Canadian homebuyers are less interested in purchasing US homes than they were last year. The number of searches for US homes by Canadians fell 15.3% year over year in June, continuing a downward trend that began two years ago.
This drop marks the biggest decline since June 2025, when searches plummeted 25.7%. Over the past two years, Canadian searches for US homes have decreased by roughly 37%.
Redfin's Head of Economics Research, Chen Zhao, attributed this trend to Canada's recovering economy and lingering uncertainty around trade, jobs, domestic housing markets, and inflation.
