Canadian Loonie Slips Amid Global Market Volatility
The Canadian dollar declined on Friday, shedding almost a quarter of a cent. The loonie's value decreased to US$0.7212 or US$1=C$1.3866 compared to Thursday's close of US$0.7235 or US$1=C$1.3822.
The United States Dollar Index rose 0.066 of a point at 98.850, while crude oil prices dropped in response to Iran's announcement that it will meet with other Persian Gulf states to discuss the Strait of Hormuz.
West Texas Intermediate lost US$2.04 at US$100.44 per barrel and Brent crude fell US$2.83 at US$104.80.
