Canadian Stock Futures Hold Steady Amid Trade Tensions
Canadian stock futures held steady on Friday morning, after a strong rally in the previous session. The S&P/TSX Composite Index futures were virtually unchanged at 2,152.00 points.
The calm start to the day followed a 1.5% surge in the index on Thursday, driven by soaring metal prices and energy commodity surges.
However, market participants are cautious as they balance this momentum with ongoing trade tensions and heightened inflation risks related to energy prices.
Bay Street was caught in a tug-of-war throughout the week, with the Bank of Canada's (BoC) monetary policy stance receiving significant attention.
The central bank maintained its target overnight rate at 2.25% on Wednesday, citing strong second-quarter GDP growth but also noting elevated global oil prices and U.S. tariff threats as reasons for caution.
