Canadian Stock Futures Slip Ahead of Rate Decision
Canada's main stock index futures slipped on Wednesday as investors adopted a defensive stance ahead of the Bank of Canada's monetary policy announcement.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index futures fell 0.14% to 2,103.70 points, following a sharp sell-off in the previous session.
The Canadian dollar traded around 1.3980 per US greenback, as energy-market support offset broader safe-haven demand for the US dollar.
Analysts expect Governor Tiff Macklem to keep the key benchmark rate on hold at 2.25% for a seventh consecutive meeting, citing core inflation remaining settled near 2% and investor expectations of an addition of 15,000 jobs in Friday's labor force survey.
