Canadians Remain Cautious on Economy Despite Growing Confidence in Mark Carney
A new poll conducted by Research Co. shows that Canadians' economic outlook remains cautious despite Prime Minister Mark Carney's growing confidence in his ability to manage the economy.
The survey, which polled 1,002 adults in Canada between August 31 and September 2, found that nearly three in five Canadians (59 per cent) consider the current economic conditions in Canada as 'bad' or 'very bad'. Only 36 per cent of respondents rate the current economic conditions as 'very good' or 'good', a slight increase from February.
The results also indicate that Albertans are the least likely to say that Canada's economy is 'very good' or 'good', with only 27 per cent of respondents sharing this view. In contrast, Canadians in Saskatchewan and Manitoba are more optimistic, with 46 per cent rating their economic conditions as 'very good' or 'good'.
The poll also found that confidence in Prime Minister Carney has increased significantly since February, with 59 per cent of respondents saying they trust him to do the right thing to help the economy. This is a significant improvement from February, when only 53 per cent of Canadians trusted him.
