Canola Futures Edge Up Amid Mixed Oil Signals
Intercontinental Exchange's canola futures experienced a minor uptick on Wednesday morning, despite mixed signals from comparable oils. The gains were modest, with prices for November, January, March, and May contracts increasing by $2.10, $1.30, $1.00, and $0.50 per metric tonne respectively.
The movement in canola futures was influenced by positioning ahead of the US Department of Agriculture's supply and demand report, which is expected to provide insight into market trends. The November contract lagged behind its 20-day moving average but remained above other technical levels.
Canola crush margins held steady between C$269.60 to C$279.40 per tonne above the futures. Meanwhile, the Canadian dollar strengthened slightly, trading at 71.86 U.S. cents compared to Tuesday's close of 71.80.
