Card Surcharges Banned from October in Australia
Australia is set to ban card surcharges from October, as part of new payment reforms introduced by the Reserve Bank of Australia.
The changes will eliminate extra fees charged to customers when paying with eftpos, Visa, or Mastercard.
The Australian Banking Association (ABA) is urging businesses to prepare for the change, including disabling surcharging functions before October 1st.
The RBA estimates that one in six businesses currently apply a card surcharge.
