Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is betting on leveraging his personal relationships with top investors to boost Canada's economy.

With over C$100tn ($72tn; £53) in assets, Toronto will host more than 100 global investors for a two-day summit.

Carney hopes to pitch them on Canada's energy and resource sectors, as well as its political stability, in the hopes of getting them to invest in AI, defence, transportation, and infrastructure projects across the country.

He believes his background in finance will give him an advantage in wooing investors, but some experts caution that Canada's lengthy approval processes for projects could be a major hurdle.
