Carney Demands End to US Insults for Trade Talks Restart
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has expressed his hope for a mutually beneficial trade deal with the US, but only if US officials stop publicly insulting Canada.
In an interview on Tuesday morning in Ottawa, Carney stated that discussions between the two countries cannot resume as long as the Trump administration continues to make derogatory comments about Canada's military and economy.
The comments from US officials have included renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America and criticizing Canada's military capabilities.
