Carney Should Cut Taxes, Not Tariffs

Prime Minister Mark Carney's government is considering imposing dollar-for-dollar tariffs on US goods in response to Trump's tariffs. However, Ontario Premier Doug Ford argued that this would be a tax on American people, making life more expensive for them.

Instead of retaliating with tariffs, Jay Goldberg suggests reducing corporate taxes and removing internal trade barriers. The government recognizes that removing interprovincial trade restrictions could boost Canada's economy by up to $210 billion, equivalent to a 9% national tariff.

Goldberg also proposes cutting personal income taxes, pointing out that Canadians are struggling with high costs and more than 46% of them said they were $200 away from not being able to pay their bills.
