Carney's Canada Investment Summit Aims to Diversify Economy Amid US Trade Tensions
Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney is hosting his country's first-ever investment summit in Toronto, aiming to attract global investors and diversify its economy. The two-day event gathered over 100 investors managing more than C$100 trillion in assets, including sovereign wealth funds from the UAE, Norway, and executives from major finance companies like BlackRock and Blackstone.
Carney highlighted Canada's attractive features, stating, 'We have what the world wants: the energy, the resources, the talent, the technology and the capital.' He emphasized Canada's political stability and trust, contrasting it with uncertainty elsewhere.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford noted the presence of investors from various countries, including Kuwait, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore, Qatar, Norway, Japan, and Australia. He added that Ontario offers 15 major projects for investment across energy, minerals, AI, and advanced manufacturing.
