Cedi Slumps Against Major Currencies on August 19
The Ghanaian Cedi has continued its decline against major currencies on August 19, 2026. At forex bureaus, the Cedi is trading at GHS11.85 for dollar purchases and GHS12.25 for dollar sales. This represents a depreciation in value compared to Tuesday's rates.
On the Bank of Ghana interbank market, the cedi is trading at GHS11.04 for buying and GHS11.05 on the selling rates. The British pound is also affected, with an average forex bureau rate of GHS15.06 for buying and GHS16.20 for selling.
The money transfer space shows LemFi and Taptap Send offering dollar rates of GHS11.10 each for remittances from the US or UK to Ghana. The Euro is trading at GHS12.85 for buying and GHS13.89 for selling at forex bureaus, with an interbank rate of GHS12.80.
