Central Banks Dominate Week Ahead with Policy Announcements and Rate Decisions
The week ahead is set to be dominated by policy announcements from major central banks, including the Bank of England, US Federal Reserve, and Bank of Japan. On Monday, investors will eye first-half results from several companies, including HGCapital Trust and Globaldata.
On Tuesday, full-year results are due from Kier Group and MJ Gleeson, while Chinese industrial production, retail sales, and fixed asset investment figures for August will be released.
Barratt Redrow's full-year trading update is expected to be a key focus on Wednesday, with analysts Russ Mould and Danni Hewson noting that the company faces a tough backdrop due to rising borrowing costs and mounting costs of its own.
The Bank of England's rate decision will also be under scrutiny on Thursday, with Danske Bank predicting an unchanged Bank Rate until 2027. In the US, housing starts and building permits data for August will be released, while in Japan, a 25bp hike to 1.25% is widely expected from the BoJ.
