China Hikes Visa Fees for Japanese Citizens Amid Reciprocity Row

China has significantly increased visa fees for Japanese citizens traveling to China. According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Ning, this adjustment is based on the principle of reciprocity.

The Chinese Embassy in Japan announced that it would adjust visa fees for Japanese citizens from September 14th, following the mutual visa fee system.

Single visas will now cost around 146,000 won (16,750 yen), which is about seven times higher than the existing 19,500 won (2,250 yen).

One-year multiple visas will increase from 65,000 won (7,500 yen) to 439,000 won (50,250 yen). Additionally, fees of around 43,000 won (5,000 yen) are required for submitting Chinese visa applications.
