China Ups Visa Fees for Japanese Citizens Amid Reciprocity Principle

China has increased visa fees for Japanese citizens traveling to the country as part of a reciprocal arrangement. The Chinese Embassy in Japan announced that from September 14, 2026, single-entry visas will cost 16,750 yen ($108.57), double-entry visas will be 25,100 yen, and multiple-entry visas will range from 33,500 yen for six months to 50,250 yen for a year.

This move comes after the Japanese government raised single-entry visa fees for foreigners fivefold to 15,000 yen ($90) in July. The Chinese Embassy stated that visa applications submitted before September 14 will still be charged at the previous rates, and visa fees for third-country nationals remain unchanged.
