China's Foreign Exchange Reserves Climb 0.57% to $3.4383 Trillion in August
China's foreign exchange reserves saw a modest increase in August, rising by 0.57% to $3.4383 trillion at the end of the month. This marks an uptick of $19.5 billion from July's total.
The State Administration of Foreign Exchange attributed this growth to the combined effects of currency translation and asset price changes. Wen Bin, chief economist at China Minsheng Bank, noted that the decline in the US dollar index by 0.5% to 99.4 contributed positively to the valuation effect on China's foreign exchange reserves.
Looking ahead, Wen Bin expects China's exports to maintain their resilience and continue consolidating the foundation of the country's balance of payments. He attributes this optimism to the ongoing global manufacturing upswing driven by AI-related capital expenditure and the expansion of Chinese companies into diverse overseas markets.
