Christchurch Convention Centre Boosts Economy by Nearly $74 Million
Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre delivered an economic boost of almost NZ$74 million (US$44.4 million) for New Zealand in the year to June 2026, according to an economic impact assessment by Infometrics.
The venue hosted 56 conventions during this period, including several international events, supporting 827 jobs across Canterbury.
The centre also reported a significant attendance figure, with over 125,000 visitors attending various events such as the Adaptation Futures 2025 conference and the Art of Banksy exhibition, which attracted more than 38,000 visitors during the summer period.
Since opening in May 2022, Te Pae Christchurch has hosted more than 865 events attended by over 422,000 visitors. The centre has a pipeline of conventions and events confirmed for 2026 and beyond.
