The Swiss government has appointed Christoph Ammann as the new president of the Swiss National Bank's (SNB) Bank Council. The appointment is set to take effect on May 1, 2027, when Ammann will replace Barbara Janom Steiner who has been leading the council since 2019.
Ammann, a former member of the Cantonal Government and Head of the Department of Economic Affairs, Energy and Environment of the Canton of Bern, has been serving as a member of the SNB's Bank Council since 2019. He will assume the presidency on May 1, 2027.
