Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland President Beth Hammack has hinted that multiple interest rate hikes may be necessary to bring inflation down to the central bank's target of 2%. In an interview with Yahoo Finance, Hammack suggested that a single 25-basis-point move is unlikely to have a significant impact on the economy. When asked about the number of rate hikes needed, she replied, 'I would say in general, one 25-basis-point move probably doesn’t do a whole lot for the economy.' She added that it's possible some number of hikes may be required.

Hammack did not specify what this number might be or provide a timeline for when interest rates might increase. The comments come as the Federal Reserve continues to navigate its monetary policy in response to rising inflation and economic uncertainty.
