Commerzbank Smashes Records Amid Takeover Talks
Commerzbank, Germany's second-largest private lender, has delivered its strongest-ever first-half results, posting a net profit of €1.8 billion for the six months ending June 2026.
The bank's operating profit climbed 14 percent to €2.7 billion, while revenues expanded 7 percent to €6.5 billion in the half, accelerating to 9 percent growth in the second quarter alone.
In a move that signals confidence in the bank's standalone viability, Commerzbank has announced a fresh share buyback program of up to €1.2 billion, which has been approved by the European Central Bank.
