Commerzbank Stock Soars Amid Takeover Speculation and Record Earnings

Commerzbank's stock price has been on the rise after a record-breaking earnings report and analyst upgrades. The bank's shares closed at €39.07, just 1.96 percent below its 52-week high of €39.85.

The recent surge in Commerzbank's stock is attributed to a combination of operational strength and takeover speculation. Analysts from four major financial institutions have raised or confirmed their price targets for the German lender, with valuations ranging between €42 and €46.

UniCredit, which has been attempting to increase its stake beyond the 30 percent threshold, has had its application formally accepted by the German financial regulator BaFin. The European Central Bank will now review the application within a 60-day decision window.
