Cook's Lawyer Calls Allegations 'Untried and Unproven'

US Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook's lawyer has responded to allegations of wrongdoing, saying they are 'untried and unproven'. In a letter to the White House, Abbe Lowell stated that Governor Cook has never committed mortgage fraud or intentional wrongdoing. The allegations against her rely on 'untried and unproven allegations of criminal wrongdoing', according to the lawyer.

The White House had threatened to oust Cook from the Federal Reserve Board over these allegations. However, Lowell argues that an inadvertent oversight is not considered fraudulent or criminal. He further emphasized that there is no legally cognizable cause for removing Cook from her position.
