Corn Belt Agricultural Conditions Show Slight Improvement
A recent Federal Reserve survey found that agricultural conditions across the Corn Belt have improved slightly, but remain strained overall. The Beige Book report, published on September 2nd, was prepared by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis based on information collected up to August 24th.
The Seventh District of Chicago reported an improvement in seventh district farm income expectations for 2026, despite a low level over the reporting period. Crops were in good shape, though some areas were stressed due to heavy rains and flooding. Yields for corn and soybeans are expected to be close to record levels.
The Eighth District of St. Louis also reported slightly improved conditions, with contact Northwest Mississippi noting that the corn harvest produced good yields. However, a rice processor in Arkansas observed decreased rice demand due to increased imports.
