Cost of Living Tops Americans' Concerns Over Iran War

A new poll by Marquette University Law School has revealed that Americans are increasingly concerned about the cost of living and inflation, surpassing even the ongoing Iran war as their top concern. According to the poll, 35% of respondents cited cost of living and inflation as the most important issue facing the country, while the economy was a distant second at 15%. This marks the fifth consecutive month that cost of living and inflation have been among the top two concerns for Americans.

The Iran war, which has been ongoing for nearly six months, dropped to its lowest spot in three months, with only 10% of respondents citing it as their top concern. In fact, a staggering 75% of Americans believe that the war is not worth the cost, and 88% do not think the US has achieved its goal.

The poll also found that annual inflation dipped from 4.1% in May to 3.7% in June, according to the personal consumption expenditure price index. However, despite this slight decline, three regional Federal Reserve presidents dissented against leaving interest rates unchanged, arguing that they should be raised to combat elevated inflation.
