Couche-Tard Results, Interest Rate Decision Loom Large in Canadian Business
Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., a leading Canadian convenience store operator, will release its financial results for the first quarter of its 2027 fiscal year on Tuesday after market close. This comes just as the company made an offer to acquire Polish convenience store operator Zabka Group.
The Bank of Canada is also set to make its interest rate decision on Wednesday, with economists widely expecting the policy interest rate to remain at 2.25 per cent. This move follows Statistics Canada's report that inflation rose to three per cent in July, up from 2.8 per cent in June.
Statistics Canada will release two key economic reports this week: international merchandise trade figures for July on Thursday and the labour force survey for August on Friday. The latter is expected to provide insights into the Canadian job market.
