Counterfeit Fives Circulate in Huron County

Huron County residents and businesses are being warned about counterfeit five-dollar bills that have been circulating in Goderich and Clinton.

The Huron County OPP reported that several suspected fake bills were used over the past month, displaying noticeable signs of excessive wear and differences in color compared to real Canadian money.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) experts will examine any counterfeit bills turned in by residents or businesses.

The Bank of Canada offers tips on how to spot counterfeit money, which can be found on their website or by calling 1-800-303-1282.
