Cuba Informal Market: Dollar Remains Unchanged as Euro Surpasses It by 90 Pesos
The informal currency market in Cuba opened on Tuesday, September 1, with mixed signals. The US dollar remained unchanged compared to the previous day, trading at 678 Cuban pesos (CUP) for a buying price of 675 CUP and a selling price of 680 CUP.
However, when looking at the weekly trend, the dollar has increased by 10 pesos over the last seven days, representing a rise of 1.5%. Over the past month, it has fluctuated between a low of 663 CUP and the current high of 678 CUP.
The euro is the most active currency in this market, with its price increasing by three pesos to 768 CUP for both buying and selling purposes. This represents an increase of 13 pesos compared to seven days ago, marking a rise of 1.7%. The euro's dominance over the dollar has been solidified, with a difference of 90 pesos in their exchange rates.
