The informal foreign exchange market in Cuba has closed its session on August 30, 2026, with both the US dollar and euro experiencing an upward trend. The US dollar ended the day at 676 Cuban pesos (CUP), a gain of 1 peso compared to the previous session, while the euro rose to 765 CUP, up by 2.5 pesos.

The demand for dollars remains high among those looking to protect their savings against the depreciation of the peso. The gap between the official exchange rate and the informal rate exceeds 40 pesos for the dollar and around 30 pesos for the euro.

Despite the limited data available, the MLC closed the day at around 466 CUP, but its use is restricted to state-run businesses that accept it, limiting its circulation compared to cash currencies.
