Cuba's Currency Market Sees Varied Movements on August 5th
The Cuban peso continued to show little resistance against major foreign currencies on August 5th. The currency market opened with varied movements, where one currency rose, another fell, and a third remained unchanged.
At 10:00 am local time, the euro opened slightly higher, trading at around 785 CUP, one step above the previous day's close. The dollar maintained its position around 673 CUP.
The available data on the MLC was scarce and should be taken with caution. It indicated a decline to about 452 pesos compared to 482 yesterday.
The U.S. dollar remained unchanged, trading at 673 Cuban pesos in the informal market, with a buying rate of 670 CUP and a selling rate of 675 CUP. This stability is observed when looking back: a week ago, the rate was identical, and 30 days ago it was also at 673 pesos.
The euro gained some ground, opening at 785 Cuban pesos, with a buying rate of 780 CUP and a selling rate of 790 CUP. This represents an increase of 1.5 pesos compared to the previous day, corresponding to a rise of 0.2%.
