The informal currency market in Cuba remained stable on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with the US dollar and euro holding their positions from the previous session.

The American dollar closed at 664 Cuban pesos (CUP), marking a slight decrease of 8.5 pesos from its value last week (-1.3%). Despite this stability, the dollar has been showing a downward trend over the past month, with fluctuations between a low of 655 and a high of 675 CUP.

The euro also maintained its position at 760 CUP, but its weekly decline was more pronounced, falling by 20.5 pesos (-2.6%) from last week's value. The euro has been on an upward trend compared to the dollar, with its present rate 96 pesos higher than that of the dollar.

The MLC (Moneda Libremente Convertible), a local currency, saw a significant drop in value, closing at around 435 CUP. This marked a decline of 19.5 pesos from the previous day (-4.3%) and 26 pesos compared to last week's value (-5.6%). The limited trading volume of the MLC restricts its use, with its circulation mainly confined to state-run stores that accept it.
