Cuba's Informal Currency Market Sees Decline in Major Currencies

The informal currency exchange market in Cuba has seen a decline in major currencies. As of Monday, August 10, 2026, the US dollar is trading at 670 Cuban pesos (CUP), down from 673 CUP the previous day and 673 CUP just a week ago. This represents a weekly decline of 2.5 pesos (-0.4%). Over the past month, the dollar has gained 10 pesos since it was at 660 CUP thirty days ago.

The euro is also down in value, trading at 773 CUP, a drop of 5 pesos from the previous day and 12.5 pesos (-1.6%) over the week. Compared to 30 days ago, when it was trading at 750 pesos, it has gained 22.5 pesos.

The MLC, used in state-run stores that accept it, is valued at around 423 CUP (indicative value), down from 446 CUP the previous day and a more pronounced decline over the week.
