Cuba's Informal Currency Market Sees Dollar Stability and Euro Decline
The informal currency market in Cuba has concluded its session for Sunday, August 9, 2026. The US dollar remains unchanged at 673 Cuban pesos (CUP), maintaining a streak of containment over the past month with a fluctuation range between 655 and 675 CUP.
The euro, however, drops three pesos compared to the previous day, closing at 778 CUP. This decline marks the second consecutive day for the European currency, which has lost a total of 10 pesos over the week (-1.3%). The dollar still exceeds the euro by 105 pesos in the parallel market.
The MLC's value is indicative due to its low trading volume and is reported at around 446 CUP. This represents a decline of 15 pesos (-3.3%) from the previous session, with a loss of 33.5 pesos (-7%) over the last week.
