The informal currency market in Cuba experienced mixed fluctuations on Saturday, September 5, 2026. The U.S. dollar maintained its previous value of 683 Cuban pesos (CUP), but has appreciated by 7.5 pesos over the past week.

The euro rose to 777 CUP, a 0.3% daily increase and a 1.9% weekly gain. In contrast, the MLC declined by 21 pesos from the previous day's value of 462 CUP, representing a 4.5% decrease.

The official exchange rate set by the Central Bank of Cuba remains significantly lower than the informal market rates, with a gap of 43 pesos for dollars and 33 pesos for euros. This disparity affects domestic prices and Cubans' purchasing power in a context of persistent inflation and low state salaries.
