Cuba's Informal Currency Market Sees Mixed Signals Amid Dollar Stability
The unofficial currency exchange market in Cuba shows mixed signals as of Saturday, September 5, 2026. The US dollar remains steady compared to the previous day, trading at 683 Cuban pesos (CUP) with a buying rate of 680 CUP and a selling rate of 685 CUP.
Despite showing no change from the previous session, this stability shouldn't be mistaken for structural calm, as the dollar has increased by 8.5 pesos over the past week, marking a 1.3% rise from its previous standing.
The euro continues to climb, starting the day at 777 CUP with buying and selling rates at 773 CUP and 780 CUP, respectively. This marks a 3-peso increase from the previous day when it was at 774 CUP.
