Cuba's Informal Currency Market Sees Significant Increases for Dollar, Euro, and MLC
The informal currency market in Cuba has seen significant increases for its three main benchmarks: the U.S. dollar, euro, and MLC. On Monday, the U.S. dollar gained more ground, trading at 694 Cuban pesos (CUP), up from 693 CUP in the previous session.
This marks a notable climb over the past week, with the American currency reaching its highest level in 30 days. The euro also saw an increase, opening at 793 CUP, five pesos more than Sunday's rate of 788 CUP.
The MLC, or Freely Convertible Currency, experienced the most substantial movement, climbing to around 482 CUP from 464 CUP recorded the day before. This represents a jump of 18 pesos in just one day and nearly 60 pesos more than its value a week ago.
