Cuba's Informal Currency Market Sees Surge in US Dollar and Euro Prices

The informal currency market in Cuba has started the week on an upward trend. As of Monday, August 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time, the U.S. dollar is trading at 666 Cuban pesos (CUP), with a buying rate of 662 CUP and a selling rate of 669 CUP.

This represents an increase of two pesos compared to the previous day's average value of 664 CUP. In the weekly perspective, the USD has risen by two pesos since last week, while in the monthly horizon, it is eight pesos lower than its value thirty days ago, at 674 CUP.

The euro also gained ground on Monday, trading at 755 CUP with a buying price of 750 CUP and a selling price of 760 CUP. This marks a rise of five pesos compared to the previous day's average value of 750 CUP, but it has decreased by five pesos in the weekly comparison, down 0.7% from last week.

The MLC (Freely Convertible Currency) appears with an average value of 469 CUP, with a purchase at 418 CUP and a sale at 519 CUP. This represents an increase of 57.5 pesos compared to the previous day's value of 411 CUP.
