Cuba's Informal Market Sees Dollar Stability and Euro Decline
The informal market in Cuba saw little change on Saturday as the dollar maintained its stability and the euro continued to decline. The U.S. currency remained at an average value of 673 Cuban pesos (CUP) for a week, while the euro fell by 1.5 CUP to 782 CUP.
The Freely Convertible Currency (MLC), on the other hand, rose slightly to 449 CUP, although this figure should be viewed with caution due to the low volume of transactions. In buying and selling operations, the dollar was priced at 670-675 CUP, while the euro traded between 774-790 CUP.
The stability of the dollar is not a new phenomenon, as it has been stagnant for a week, with only a minor increase of 2.5 CUP over the past month, equivalent to 0.4%. The euro, however, has struggled to keep pace, losing 3 CUP in the last seven days but remaining 22 CUP higher than its value 30 days ago.
