Cyprus Inflation Hits Second-Highest Level in Eurozone
Cyprus's annual inflation rate has reached its second-highest level in the eurozone, according to Eurostat. The country's inflation rate rose to 5.2% in August 2026, up from 4.4% in July. This significant increase in inflation puts Cyprus in second place among member states, with Lithuania recording the highest inflation at 5.8%.
The monthly inflation rate stood at 1.5%, and this upward trajectory is a stark contrast to August last year when inflation was at zero percent. The main components of eurozone inflation also saw increases, with energy prices rising by 14.3% annually, followed by services at 3.0%, non-energy industrial goods at 1.2%, and food, alcohol, and tobacco at 1.2%.
