Cyprus Inflation Rate Surges to 5.2% Amid Rising Energy Prices
Cyprus's annual inflation rate jumped to an estimated 5.2% in August 2026, up from 4.4% in July, according to preliminary figures released by Eurostat on Tuesday.
This marks a sharp acceleration in price rises over recent months in Cyprus. Inflation stood at zero in August 2025 and rose gradually to reach 3% in April, before continuing its upward trend.
Cyprus recorded the second-highest inflation rate in the eurozone, behind only Lithuania's 5.8%. The main driver of inflationary pressure was energy prices, which saw an annual increase of 14.3%, up from 10.3% the previous month.
