DAX 40 Inches Closer to Record High Amid Cautious Investor Sentiment
Germany's DAX 40 index finished modestly higher on August 26, closing at 26,285.96 and gaining 19.82 points or 0.08%.
The session was cautious, with investors hesitant to make major moves ahead of Nvidia's highly anticipated earnings report and fresh US inflation data.
Financial stocks led the way, with Deutsche Bank rising 4.31% and Commerzbank gaining 2.81%. Heidelberg Materials was the day's strongest performer, advancing 5.24%, while Rheinmetall and MTU Aero Engines also posted gains.
SAP was a drag on the index, falling approximately 2.93%, due in part to concerns over artificial intelligence's impact on Europe's software industry.
