De Brouwer Appointed ANU Chancellor Amid Key Public Sector Moves
The Australian Public Service has seen several key appointments in recent weeks, including the appointment of Gordon de Brouwer as the next chancellor of the Australian National University. Dr. de Brouwer is a well-respected economist and public servant who previously served as the Australian Public Service Commissioner.
In his new role, he will replace Julie Bishop and lead the university into its next chapter. Public Service Minister Katy Gallagher congratulated him on his appointment, saying she couldn't think of a better person for the job. She praised Dr. de Brouwer's experience and leadership qualities, noting that he has made a significant contribution to Australia through his career in academia and public service.
Other notable appointments include Nicholas Broadbent SC being appointed as Associate Director of Public Prosecutions for a five-year term starting on October 6th. Melinda Cilento has also been appointed as a part-time member of the Reserve Bank of Australia Monetary Policy Board for a five-year term effective September 1st.
