Deficit Peak, Iranian Leadership, SNB Rate Cuts on Table
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently announced that the country's budget deficit is likely to have peaked, stating there's a 'very good chance' it has. The monthly US budget deficit reached $432 billion, according to recent data. This development comes after the Treasury Department made an extraordinary debt buyback announcement, which shows their focus on managing the nation's finances.
In a separate development, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that those who invite external enemies into the country are 'not Iranians.' He stressed that Iran seeks to end its conflict with the US from a position of strength, when the world acknowledges its victory. Pezeshkian praised those who resisted the enemy's plan and thwarted it.
Additionally, Swiss National Bank (SNB) member Thomas Tschudin stated that they would cut interest rates below 0% if inflation required it. He attributed low inflation expectations and a small oil weight in the consumer basket to maintaining low inflation levels in Switzerland.
