Denmark's Central Bank Expected to Match ECB on Interest Rates
Denmark's central bank is expected to follow the European Central Bank's lead on interest rates over the next year. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg believe Nationalbanken will mirror any rate move made by the ECB for at least the next 12 months. This comes as both authorities are set to raise borrowing costs by 25 basis points on Thursday.
The krone has weakened recently, prompting several rounds of currency intervention. However, economists still anticipate that Denmark's central bank will maintain a policy of matching the ECB's rate moves.
According to Bloomberg's survey, all six economists believe Nationalbanken will follow the ECB's lead on interest rates over the next year. This suggests that Denmark may not need an extra rate hike in the next 12 months, despite the weakening krone and recent intervention efforts.
