Diesel Prices Soar as US Inflation Holds Steady at 3.4% in August
The latest inflation data from the US has revealed that prices rose by 3.4% in the year to August, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The overall inflation rate remained steady compared to July, but the cost of living continues to be impacted by increasing gasoline prices.
A gallon of diesel hit a new all-time high of more than $6 on average last Friday, driven by higher global oil prices caused by supply disruptions related to the US-Iran conflict. This spike in fuel costs has put additional pressure on US household budgets, especially at the pump.
