Dollar and Euro Surge in Cuba's Informal Market
This Friday, September 4, 2026, marked a bullish trend in Cuba's informal currency market. The US dollar and euro were gaining ground compared to the previous trading day, while the MLC (Moneda Libre de Cuba) experienced a slight decline.
The US dollar was quoted at an average value of 683 Cuban pesos (CUP), with a buying price of 680 CUP and a selling price of 685 CUP. This represents an increase of five pesos compared to the previous day, when it closed at 678 CUP.
Compared to 30 days ago, the dollar has risen by 10 pesos; however, this may partly reflect methodological adjustments in the index rather than just market movements. The demand for dollars remains high among those looking to protect their savings against the depreciation of the peso.
