Dollar Dominance: AI Investment and Hawkish Fed Policy Fuel Currency Comeback
The US dollar has rebounded on global currency markets due to several factors, including the Federal Reserve's hawkish stance and significant investment in artificial intelligence (AI) projects.
According to Julius Baer experts, Christian Gattiker and David Kohl, the greenback's resurgence is driven by the ongoing AI-driven investment boom, which continues to attract substantial foreign capital into US equities. This trend provides a strong pillar of support for the currency.
The Federal Reserve's updated interest rate projections, known as the 'dot plot,' have also contributed to the dollar's strength, as expectations surrounding monetary policy have shifted in favor of the dollar.
In addition, structural adjustments in the US economy are benefiting the Greenback. Higher energy exports combined with softer domestic consumer demand have narrowed the US current account deficit, reducing the volume of capital inflows required to offset dollar outflows.
