Dollar Edges Higher Against Swiss Franc Amid Rising Inflation Expectations
The US dollar rose against the Swiss franc after data showed a rise in consumer prices.
A Labor Department report revealed that the US consumer price index increased by 0.4% in August, exceeding July's 0.1% gain.
This increase reinforced expectations of a rate hike next week, with markets pricing in an 86% chance of a 25 basis-point hike, up from 72% the previous day.
The dollar initially gained on the news but later gave back some gains due to concerns about oil prices and investor sentiment.
