The US Dollar Index has edged higher to the 99.00 region due to investors' cautious market stance, despite closing last week in negative territory.

US stock index futures are trading marginally lower in European morning hours ahead of key economic data releases this week.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis will publish the second estimate of quarterly Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth and Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index figures for July on Wednesday, while Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh is set to deliver a keynote speech at the Jackson Hole Symposium that same day.

Analysts at ING highlight two key events: the release of US core PCE inflation for July and Warsh's speech, which will be closely scrutinized for clues on monetary policy direction.
