Dollar Edges Up as Traders Eye Iran Talks and US Jobs Data
The dollar rose on Friday as traders looked ahead to Iran talks and US jobs data. The greenback was boosted by higher Treasury yields, which some attributed to a Financial Times report indicating Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's openness to a September interest rate hike.
However, economists like Kristina Clifton from Commonwealth Bank of Australia caution that the Fed may not act until December, and that the potential for a September hike is still uncertain.
The dollar index, which measures the currency against six major peers, rose marginally to 99.954, up over 0.1% for the week. The US unit also strengthened against the euro, reaching $1.1521.
